The 2021 Festival

The Chelmsford Competitive Festival of Music, Speech and Drama has been established in the county town of Essex for over 60 years. We are here to provide a platform for performers of all ages who wish to show their skill and hard work in a non-threatening environment.

The festival runs over two weekends and has classes for all ages and abilities in the following sections:

Piano
Brass, Woodwind & Recorders
Strings
Music Making
Speech and Drama
Singing

We are affiliated to the International Federation of Festivals and our adjudicators are all professionals in their field.

The three venues we use are Trinity Methodist Church, The Quaker Meeting House and St Cedd's School - all in central Chelmsford.

The 2021 Festival

We are delighted to say that we are currently planning a festival for November 2021. It won't offer the same number of classes as we need to make it a smaller affair BUT we are committed to providing our young musicians and actors a platform on which to perform.

The full syllabus will be available soon and there will be classes for all our usual sections.

Please be assured that all health and safety measures for performance, social distancing, one way systems and all COVID-related issues will be in place and will be in line with our risk assessment.

Become a Part of the Festival

The Chelmsford Festival is run entirely by a team of volunteers who believe passionately about encouraging everyone to participate in arts performances.

Anyone is welcome to come along and watch our competitions and events. A nominal admission fee is charged.
